I believe that technology can be a positive addition to education, both in making use of the technology as teaching tools to enhance other curriculum and as a curriculum to be taught in of itself. The use of technology as a teaching tool can not only streamline the process of lesson planning and teaching, but often today’s students connect with information and concepts better through the use of the various forms of media only available on devices such as computers, and smartboards. Technology in a classroom allows for a streamlined process of interaction when students are apart, allow for a much more effective teacher to student and teacher to parent communication, not to mention the benefits of reduced usage of paper and other classroom supplies. While the rapid changes occurring within the development of technology can be difficult to keep up with, as educators we should try and keep up with the changes in order to optimize our teaching tools. The importance of technology as a curriculum should not be understated especially at the older high school and university/college level. More and more research material is becoming exclusive to an online format, and certain subjects and topics are moving away from the physical copies of books in libraries. In the current job market, moderate computer literacy is a basic requirement.
